Frequently asked questions

Is the app free?

Yes. Scriptio is free and contains no advertising.

Do I need an account to read the Bible?

No. The Bible and the daily readings are freely available without signing up. An account is only required to annotate, keep your meditations and follow other members.

In which languages?

The app and this website exist in French, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Polish.

Which Bible translations?

Several translations, all in the public domain. You switch freely in Settings; book names and reference formats follow the translation you choose.

Who can publish annotations visible to everyone?

Only verified profiles (priests, deacons, members of consecrated life, theologians), once an official document has been checked. Other members' annotations stay private: visible to themselves, or to the friends they have accepted.

How do I request verification of my profile?

In the app: Settings › Account › Request verification. There are three routes: sending an official document attesting your role or your training, a recognised institutional email (diocese, congregation, Catholic institution), or sponsorship by an already verified profile. In every case, the request is reviewed manually. Documents sent are deleted no later than 30 days after the decision.

How do I report an annotation or block someone?

Every published annotation can be reported from within the app, and every member can be blocked from their profile. Reports are handled manually and content breaching the rules is removed. Details are in the Community Guidelines.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. The biblical text is stored on your device: you can read and annotate offline. Your annotations reach your account as soon as the connection returns.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings › Delete my account. The full procedure, and the details of what is erased, are on the Delete my account page.

Reporting a security issue

If you discover a security flaw or a data leak, write to scriptioorg@gmail.com describing the problem. Please do not disclose it publicly before it has been fixed.
