Community Guidelines

Last updated: August 5, 2026

Scriptio is a Christian community of Catholic inspiration, open to everyone who wishes to read the Bible and share what it inspires in them. These Community Guidelines summarise, in plain language, what we expect from each member.

They complement the Terms of Service, which remain the reference text: in case of doubt, the Terms (in particular sections 6 and 7) prevail.

Our spirit

Here we engage with charity — even when we disagree. You can discuss an interpretation without despising the person who holds it: respect for people always comes before the urge to be right.

What is encouraged

  • Sharing a meditation, prayer, teaching or commentary that edifies
  • Welcoming with kindness seekers, catechumens, believers from other traditions, and those who doubt
  • Citing your sources when you make a point of doctrine or history
  • Reporting what breaks these rules, rather than fuelling a conflict
  • Protecting others' privacy: do not share personal information without their consent

What is prohibited (zero tolerance)

The following content is strictly prohibited. It is removed and, depending on severity, may lead to a warning, a suspension, or permanent deletion of the account:

  • Any unlawful content — in particular child sexual abuse material, glorification of terrorism, and incitement to hatred
  • Hatred or discrimination targeting a person or group (origin, sex, orientation, disability, religion, opinion)
  • Harassment, threats, insults and intimidation
  • Pornographic, obscene, violent or shocking content
  • Content that mocks the faith, its faithful or its ministers in order to demean them, as well as the deliberate spreading of a teaching presented as Catholic in order to deceive the faithful while manifestly opposing the teaching of the Church. Respectful disagreement and the sincere expression of other convictions, however, remain welcome.
  • Impersonation of a person, an institution or the Church
  • Spam, advertising and unsolicited promotion
  • Any infringement of others' rights (copyright, privacy, image rights)
  • Attempts at fraud, manipulation or technical exploitation of the application

If these rules are not respected

Depending on severity and repetition, we may remove the content, issue you a warning, temporarily hide your content, suspend your account or delete it permanently. Each decision will be notified to you with its reason and the available means of redress (see Terms § 7).

Reporting or blocking

On every published annotation, the “Report” button alerts us. You can also block a user from their profile: you will no longer see their content and they will no longer see yours. We review every report as quickly as possible (normally within 24 hours, and at the latest within 72 hours).

Appealing a decision

If you believe a moderation decision is unfair, write to us at scriptioorg@gmail.com within 30 days. We will re-examine the decision and reply to you (normally within 14 days). You also retain the remedies provided by law (see Terms § 7.4 and § 15).
